It all started when i was helping my nan move house, I saw a box by the rubbish pile and it was full of old black and white family photographs. Now I couldn't just let these photographs be thrown away, I don't no about everyone else but to me a photograph means a lot more to me than just a piece of paper. I like to think about the story behind the photograph, the memories it holds, and the forgotten memories they revive.
"Why choose, this object, this moment, rather than some other??"
I want to capture a fragment of memory to provoke feelings of nostalgia when someone sees it. To do this i am planning on using photocopies of the photographs to create an archive of forgotten memories. Photocopies create a fragile feeling just like the memories, which have been forgotten.
By adding words to the old photographs it creates more of a connection with the viewer as they can relate back to their own memories and feelings while reading it.
I want to get as many people directly involved as possible by getting everyone to make their own photocopies. This will allow me to collect personal memories and eventually create a final piece with them.
